Course Overview

The Facebook–Cambridge Analytica scandal exposed severe failures in protecting the personal data of millions of users worldwide. Combined with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)—the most comprehensive data protection regulation ever enacted—this event highlighted the critical importance of Data Governance, Privacy, and Data Protection for organizations across all sectors.

As cyber security threats continue to escalate globally, organizations face unprecedented pressure to act decisively to safeguard personal data, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect institutional reputation.

GDPR represents the most significant shift in data protection legislation in Europe in decades. Due to its extraterritorial scope, organizations across the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and other regions may be required to comply with GDPR even if they are not physically based in Europe. As global data protection regulations continue to expand, organizations must implement robust governance, privacy, and security frameworks to manage personal data effectively.

Failure to comply with GDPR exposes organizations to severe regulatory, financial, and reputational risks, including fines of up to EUR 20 million or 4% of global annual turnover, whichever is higher. Beyond financial penalties, non-compliance may result in regulatory investigations, sanctions, civil claims, class actions, and potential criminal liability.

This HighPoint Center (HPC) Data Governance, Privacy with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Masterclass provides a structured, practical, and globally aligned approach to addressing these challenges.
